What is breath work?

Breathwork is an evidence-informed practice that uses intentional breathing patterns to influence the body’s stress response and support nervous system regulation. Because breathing is one of the few physiological processes that is both automatic and consciously controllable, it provides a direct pathway to shift states of arousal, attention, and emotional experience.

Through specific rhythms and techniques, breathwork can help support parasympathetic activation, improve stress recovery, and increase awareness of internal body signals (interoception). This creates opportunities for individuals to respond to stress more adaptively rather than react automatically.

In high-demand environments where stress is often suppressed or overridden, breathwork offers a practical way to pause, regulate, and reconnect with the body. Many individuals report increased clarity, emotional awareness, and a greater sense of presence with consistent practice.

Breathwork can be used as a supportive tool alongside other clinical and wellness approaches to enhance resilience, self-regulation, and overall well-being.
